Pedal^Metal

As mentioned earlier, my eccentric biking friend and his riding partner spent a few days in my apartment. They departed just yesterday, leaving behind nothing more than two paperback books (one young-adult novel and one guide to biking the American Southwest), some kind thank-you notes--and a whole lotta memories *creepy wink.* Among those memories was a strange and surprisingly tasty vegetarian pad thai that featured cabbage as a central element. Another memory involves the Bike Rider showing me the impressive skin flap that had developed just above his patella thanks to his super-developed quadricep muscle.

These kids had some great stories from the road, and although I am not ready to make the journey myself any time soon, I can understand the appeal. Biking seems to be a magnificent way to explore this continent, and the one just south of us. That's right, these crazy, inspired folks plan to ride bicycles to the southern tip of South America.

I know that I promised pictures, but I didn't take any. But you can see some photos, and learn more about their journey by visiting the HippoCamel Tour Web site.
